The Archuleta County Fair Board regrets to announce the cancellation of the previously scheduled Summer Kickoff Carnival, originally announced in a press release on February 26, 2025.
The Carnival was scheduled for June 19-22. This event is separate from the Archuleta County Fair, which remains scheduled for Thursday, July 31 through Sunday, August 3, 2025.
The Carnival cancellation is due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of Archuleta County caused by unexpected logistical and scheduling challenges.
“When these challenges arose, the Fair Board, County staff, the Commissioners, all worked tirelessly making calls and suggestions towards finding an alternative solution,” said Coordinator Tonya Steadmon. “Unfortunately, there was no way around the complications, and we’ve come to this very difficult conclusion. We are all deeply saddened and equally frustrated to have to make this announcement.”
The County understands the disappointment this may cause the community, especially those who were looking forward to the carnival as a start to the summer season. “We hope to give this another try in 2026,” Steadmon continued. “As both the Fair Board and local residents, we understand the importance of bringing this event back to Archuleta County.”
The Archuleta County Fair Board appreciates the community’s understanding in this matter. They also hope to see the community at this year’s County Fair.
