Habitat Archuleta, the 2024 Year in Review

Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County is closing out the 2024 build season on time and under budget! We couldn’t have done it without the incredible support from our community. For the first time in our campaign to build “15 Homes in 5 Years,” all three partner families are in their new homes for the Christmas holiday.

These families first applied to become homeowners in the spring of 2022 and 2023, and have worked alongside Habitat staff toward their goal for the past year or more. Collectively, they contributed over 1,000 hours of sweat equity to our program. Together, we completed three new all-electric homes with net-zero rooftop solar in the PLPOA.

While Habitat homeowners purchase these houses with a USDA Direct mortgage, the properties are deed-restricted for thirty years to protect the investment of our community and this organization, while still empowering these families to build equity. Habitat staff also assist other home buyers in our community by facilitating USDA Direct mortgages for use in the conventional real estate market—expanding our impact even further.

Throughout 2024 Habitat Archuleta facilitated 2,906 volunteer hours on our construction site. Our off-site volunteers contributed an additional 1,510 hours assisting staff with fundraising, real estate transactions, construction planning, and supporting family services.

We were able to host two high school interns thanks to the Building Trades Program at Pagosa Springs High School and Pagosa Springs Community Development Corporation. 34 local businesses and organizations generously contributed over $63,000 of in-kind labor.

Grants and Donations to help build affordable workforce homeownership exceeded $268,000 this year.

Since 1994, Habitat Archuleta has built 36 homes and repaired 30, impacting 146 children and 116 adults to date.

You can help us continue this good work in 2025 by increasing your support of Habitat Archuleta. This organization not only builds homes and hope, but we also build community among our volunteers, donors, and the families who partner with us.

Consider a year-end contribution today, and stay in touch to see how you can get involved in workforce homeownership in 2025!
