PAGOSA FARMERS MARKET: Spicing It Up with 4 Corners Spice Company

This week our featured Pagosa vendor is 4 Corners Spice Company. Jennifer Martin, owner and operator, has been selling gourmet spices to Pagosa Springs customers for over 11 years, and all her custom, gourmet seasonings are handcrafted using the finest fresh, high quality ingredients.

The majority of her spice blends are chili based such as Gourmet Green Chile Seasoning, Grillers Ammo, Ancho Adovado and Pagosa’s favorite, Rosemary and Friends.  Jennifer also has some amazing base ingredients like Crushed Chipotle, Saigon Cinnamon, California Garlic and Indian Turmeric.

Jennifer chooses her ingredients from wherever whatever source that has the best, highest quality spices without any added fillers.  All her seasonings are gluten-free with no MSG or added fillers like sodium dioxide as an anti-caking agent. Furthermore, when you buy a spice at the grocery store, it can be almost 2 years old. Jennifer sources her ingredients directly from the grower so she knows it’s fresh.

Jennifer and her husband Kevin have traveled many countries where local fare has provided her with inspiration and allows her to experiment with different complex flavors and mixes. She enjoys selling at the Farmers Market and purchasing produce from the local growers. In fact, she is working with a few of them to grow ingredients for her spices in the near future. So look out for local Oregano soon.

With local produce currently at its peak, there are lots of options to use 4 Corner Spice Company’s unique spices. The Pagosa Farmers Market is happening every Saturday, from 9am -1pm until the end of September at the Tennyson Sculpture Garden and Park on Lewis Street. In addition to locally grown produce, the Market also offers mushrooms, local organic meats – beef, pork, chicken — baked goods, honey, lavender products and on-of-a-kind handmade crafts.

SNAP cards are welcome and the Market is the only place in Pagosa Springs that offers SNAP recipients $20 of Double Up Bucks for the first $20 card purchase, doubling purchasing power to $40.
