Thingamajig Theatre Company is thrilled to announce the long-awaited opening of ‘Disney’s Beauty and the Beast’ this Friday, June 28, the third offering of our 2024 Summer Repertory Season. Following the successful openings of ‘Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville’ and ‘Beautiful: The Carole King Musical’, this enchanting tale promises to be a family favorite centerpiece to an already spectacular season.

‘Beauty and the Beast’, a beloved classic, tells the story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a prince trapped under a spell. To break the curse, the Beast must learn to love and be loved in return before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose. This heartwarming tale showcases themes of love, sacrifice, and the transformative power of kindness.

Since its Broadway debut in 1994, ‘Disney’s Beauty and the Beast’ has won the hearts of millions around the world. The production received nine Tony Award nominations, winning one for Best Costume Design, and it ran for an impressive 13 years, making it one of Broadway’s longest-running shows. Its success extended to the West End, where it also garnered multiple awards and nominations, solidifying its status as a timeless favorite in musical theatre.

Thingamajig’s production features a blend of seasoned professionals and local talent. Joining the professional company are three young local actors: Sophia Sottek in the ensemble and a trio of talented performers — Finlay Moore, Quinn Murphy, and Jaycee Wallace — who will each share the role of Chip throughout the summer. These young actors bring a fresh energy to the stage, and we are proud to showcase their budding talents.

As this is the final opening of our 2024 Summer Season, it marks the last weekend for exclusive cast talk-back sessions. Following the show, audiences will have the unique opportunity to engage with the cast and crew, ask questions, and gain insights into the making of the production. These sessions have been a highlight of our summer offerings, providing a deeper connection between the performers and the audience. Don’t miss it!

‘Disney’s Beauty and the Beast’ is a show for all ages, filled with memorable songs, stunning costumes, and enchanting choreography. This production is sure to captivate the hearts of both long-time fans and newcomers alike.
