Wolf Creek Announces Jane and Pitch Tribute Race Winners

Wolf Creek Ski Area hosted its annual Jane & Pitch Tribute race on Saturday, March 2 to honor Wolf Creek Founders — Jane and Kingsbury Pitcher. The modified grand slalom course was held on Lower Charisma and was groomed nicely with beautiful conditions due to the 10 inch storm earlier in the week. The skies were fair to partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid 20’s. Racers came from as far as Louisiana & Wisconsin to participate in this special race.

The overall fastest time of the day was in our Men’s race – Jordan Sunshine of Denver, CO completed the course in an amazing time of 28.66. Charlie Chapman of Santa Fe, NM came in just behind Jordan with a time of 29.57; and finishing out the men’s group was another Santa Fe resident, Grant Saylor with a time of 30.51. Less than two seconds separated all three finishers which gave way to a very exciting race.

The ladies also offered some excellent race times with all three of our top finishers with only 2 seconds separating the top three winners. Kathy Daley of Del Norte came out on top with a time of 32.99. Second place went to Ilana Steele of Denver with a time of 33.66. Amanda Farthing of Golden came in at the third place spot with an equally impressive time of 34.08. The race was a success and a great time was had by all who participated.

Wolf Creek is looking forward to the next Fun Race this Saturday: The Spring Fling Fun Race. The Spring Fling Race is usually one of the most exciting races as it brings together our local racers with Spring Break racers from around the country. It’s going to be a great weekend to cheer everyone on here at Wolf Creek.
