Archuleta County, the Town of Pagosa Springs, and the Pagosa Springs Area Tourism Board, met on Tuesday, February 6th to discuss the 2024 Big Spring Clean event. The event,
held annually, is slated for Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4.
Aimed at cleaning up trash and debris uncovered after snowmelt, this year’s event will have several similarities to years past including low and no-cost trash dumping. Last year’s event boasted hundreds of bags of garbage collected and a record number of appliances and electronics to the landfill and transfer stations. The 2024 committee had minor changes for a better event this year with focus on landfill hours, roll-off ‘dump’ locations, and the exclusion of some items which were allowed in the past.
New this year will be increased communication via amplified signage in both English and Spanish, as well as rotating message boards on CR500/Trujillo Road to alleviate issues with overflow. The Yamaguchi Park after-party will conclude this year’s event complete with a BBQ, live music, and the now famous ice cream contest, open to any participant.
