Friends of the Theatre provided home-cooked dinners December 12 for the brilliant cast of Thingamajig Theatre Company’s holiday musical, “All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914” playing at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts through December 29.

The inspiring and very moving production showcases the talents of eight professional actors from across the U.S. and two locals — Robert Neel and Gus Palma — performing as enemy soldiers in the trenches of World War I who come together in peace, harmony and camaraderie after a German soldier begins singing “Stille Nacht” on Christmas Eve.

The story is told entirely through music and the words in letters and poems written by the soldiers themselves.

The opening night performance drew a standing ovation from the enthusiastic audience.

Dominic Girolami, one of the actors, is music director of the show. Andrew Barratt Lewis returns to Thingamajig from Utah where he is associate professor of musical theatre at Weber Stage University to direct the production. Hugely popular with Pagosa audiences, he previously directed “Bright Star,” “Grand Night for Singing” and “Miracle on 34th Street.”

Tickets for “All is Calm” are available online or by calling 970-731-SHOW (7667).

Thingamajig Theatre Company was cofounded in 2011 by Tim and Laura Moore. Tim Moore is in charge of sound design, production design and casting for “All is Calm,” and Laura Moore is responsible for properties, technical direction and production.
