Holiday Market at PLPOA This Saturday
Archuleta Seniors Inc. and Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association have joined forces this year to bring an early season holiday market to Pagosa Springs on Saturday November 4, 2023 from 9am to 3pm at PLPOA Clubhouse at 230 Port Ave. Join us to kick off the holiday season and boost your holiday spirit and shopping experience. We will have 30 artisan vendors for your shopping delight featuring handcrafted gifts for your perusal and consideration.

Dia De Los Muertos Dance Party Tomorrow
Archuleta Seniors, Inc. invites you to celebrate with us at the Dia De Los Muertos Dance Party on Friday November 3, from 7pm to midnight at the CSU Extension Building. Music y Spanish musica by DJ Marcus Rivas. Come join us on a day to gather, remember and celebrate our loved ones who went before us. Tickets are $20 and are available at 451 Hot Springs Blvd at the Pagosa Senior Center, or Pagosa Chamber of Commerce or online at https://givebutter.com/DDLM4ASI There will be a cash bar and Mexican food by the Guadalupanas. Please bring a photo of your loved one(s) to place on the community ofrenda. Bring a dozen homemade cookies and share your recipe for $5.00 off your ticket price. Bischochitos and Mexican wedding cookies are highly encouraged and this year’s theme is celebrating Hispanic and Native traditions. Children under 12 are free. Top calavera face painting and Day of the Dead costume contest will be awarded . Tickets will be available at the door.

Spanish Fiesta Committee Meeting
Members of the Spanish Fiesta committee and the general community interested in supporting the 22nd Annual Pagosa Springs Spanish Fiesta are invited to a Nov 8 meeting to be held at 5:30 pm in the evening at the senior center dining hall (451 Hot Springs Blvd.) in the Ross Aragon Community Center. The heart of the Spanish Fiesta is the people of Pagosa and the rich heritage and ancestry from our history, our families and our ancestors. We welcome absolutely everyone to join in on the organizing of this special community event. Please bring your positive energy and motivation to make the 2024 fiesta the best yet. Join us on zoom.

Free Art Class
Join us to make this festive ‘Christmas Kitchen Angel’ on November 16 at 1:15pm in the Senior Center dining room… guaranteed to bring blessings and joys of the season to your kitchen as you prepare your holiday treats. Zero art skills required. All supplies are provided and there is no cost or registration required. Just show up and have fun.

Festival of Trees Volunteers Needed
Archuleta Seniors Inc. is looking for a few community volunteers to join our team this year for the 2023 Festival of Trees event. We need community members who are enthusiastic and motivated to help us coordinate and decorate the Pagosa Senior Center tree and make it festive and attractive for the tree auction. Your energy and time will be a significant contribution to the year end fundraising efforts of Archuleta Seniors Inc. ensuring essential nutrition services are provided for the older adults and families of Archuleta County. Senior Conversations
Join us Mondays at 1:15pm for a series of “Senior Conversations” with local Bill Salmansohn. He will lead the group through mindfulness exercises and discussion of various topics pertaining to aging in Archuleta County. Explore and discover for yourself answers to your questions and concerns. The meeting will be held at the Pagosa Senior Center in the dining hall, snacks will be provided.

Share Lunch and Dine Monday through Thursday
Join us at the Silver Fox’s Den aka Community Cafe in person for daily hot/cold meals Mondays through Thursdays downtown at the Ross Aragon Community Center between 11 am and 1 pm weekly. Pickup is available all week including Fridays.

Our dining hall is open to all ages and welcomes you all with kindness and warmth. We provide hot/cold meals for anyone in the community interested in a nutritious and delicious meal. For those 60 or older we request a suggested donation of $10.00, but no one will be turned away.

Grab-N-Go & Dine-In Meals
Reservations and cancellations are required. Please call or text by 9:00 am the morning of the day you want to dine in or pick up a meal. A suggested donation of $10.00 helps to sustain our program. No one will be turned away for their inability to donate. For ages 59 and younger, the cost is $10.00 also. Please call or text us at 970-264-2167 to make a reservation.

Mahjong
Mahjong is a 19th Century Chinese tile-based game that is commonly played with four players. Each player receives 13 tiles with a goal to make matching sets and pairs (like Poker). To win, a player must form four sets and one pair. Come to the Senior Center to learn or play every Tuesday at 1:15 pm.

Medicare Call by Appointment For anyone who needs help enrolling and navigating Medicare plans, the San Juan Basin Area Agency on Aging helps with Parts A, B, and D. They can also help you with fraud concerns and troubleshooting any billing issues you may be having. By appointment only. Please call the Medicare line at 970-264-0501; ext 4.
