ComFest Outdoor Concert Series Features Kirk James Blues Band, Tomorrow

The Town of Pagosa Springs’ 2023 ComFest — the Town-sponsored concert series taking place in Town Park — will continue from 5:30 to 8:30pm tomorrow, Friday, August 18, in the Town Park athletic field.

Friday’s community festival will feature a wonderful night of live music with the Kirk James Blues Band.

A blues performer for 35 years, Kirk James is known for his strong blues guitar style and distinctive vocals. He plays both original material and classics from the Blues Masters. Kirk is solidly grounded in the Texas Blues tradition, playing Texas Shuffles, Ragtime and Funky Grooves. His unmistakable phrasing mixed with bottleneck slide conjures images of T-Bone Walker, Elmore James and Lightnin’ Hopkins.

Currently residing in Durango, Colorado, Kirk’s touring schedule has seen him open for Clarence ‘Gatemouth’ Brown, John Hammond, Richie Havens, Johnny ‘Clyde’ Copeland and Francine Reed. He has received international recognition throughout Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, England, Germany, Holland, Italy, Norway, the Czech Republic, and Yugoslavia.

Food trucks will be serving culinary favorites; all beer/wine proceeds will go directly to benefit Pagosa Youth Football.

Bring your own lawn chair/picnic blanket and enjoy the open-air concert.

On August 31, Dreem Machine and Ragwater will play, with proceeds benefiting Aspen House.
