Library Staff Honors Volunteers with Taco Luncheon

Ruby Sisson Memorial Library staff hosted a tacos luncheon to thank their volunteers during National Volunteer Week.

Theme of the event was ‘Tacos, Trivia and Terrific People’ (referencing the volunteers, of course).

Meg Wempe, Library director, (front in photo below) likes to quote author Sherry Anderson, who said, “Volunteers don’t get paid – not because they are worthless but because they are priceless.”

Everyone on the Library staff agrees.

Library volunteers help with many important tasks including shelving, program prep, garden maintenance and more.

In 2022, they contributed 1,575 hours, valued at $49,628… a huge amount of money, especially for a small library like ours.

As part of the volunteer luncheon event, Josie Snow, assistant director, created a fun Jeopardy! competition focusing on books, authors and library trivia for guests to play.

Questions in the game included several about fictional characters in books, who authored a variety of titles, and the history and current activities going on at the Sisson Library.
