The Pagosa Senior Center is kicking off our homesteading essentials workshop series with a sourdough basics course on March 20. A free class will be put on by local baker and the Dyna Bakery business owner Alison Braun. Course will include: history and health benefits of fresh local sourdough, tools you really knead for bread making, starting and maintaining a starter, fermentation tactics/times, details for mixing and proofing and sharing of favorite sourdough formulas.

Future workshops include composting, food preservation, growing dome and backyard gardening, herbalism and more. We are looking for local experts to share their knowledge in this series supporting self reliance and sustainability in our community. Mobile Food Pantry Service
The Pagosa Senior Center would like to remind the community about our mobile food pantry services we provide in partnership with Archuleta County MET to seniors age 60 and older throughout most areas of Archuleta County. In order to participate in this program, community members must visit with Barbara Noriega at the downtown Senior Center located in the Ross Aragon Community Center to fill out an application to qualify for the mobile pantry service. Zentangle
The Zentangle® Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Classes are every Wednesday at 1:15 pm in the Pagosa Senior Center. This activity is open to all ages. Help us create an intergenerational community. For those under 18 and/or with disabilities you are welcome to join us, but we kindly ask you to please bring an adult chaperone with you.
Hand & Foot Card Game
Whether you are new to Hand & Foot or interested in learning, please join us most Thursdays at 1:15 at the Senior Center. This card game involves 4 rounds of playing until the final round is reached – some 2 to 3 hours later. Plan to stay and meet some new friends or catch up with those you have missed over the last couple of years. No experience is necessary so come willing to learn.
Kitchen and Admin Volunteers Needed
The Community Cafe at the Pagosa Senior Center is requesting volunteers to help with our front desk pickup meals and in the office in administrative tasks. Please call or text us at 970-264-2167 to volunteer or for more information.
