Since 1994, thirty families in Archuleta County have partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build their own home alongside volunteers, thanks to an affordable homeownership mortgage. We are currently seeking applicants for three homes we plan to build in 2024.
If you feel you’re ready to partner with Habitat, you can download and complete the two application forms below.
Our application process for the 2024 builds includes 5 steps:
1. Apply
We accept applications at any time. However, to be considered for our 2024 build, please return your completed application with all supporting documentation to our office by Friday, June 30, 2023. You may email, mail, or drop the application off during our office hours: 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
2. Initial Review
We will begin reviewing applications as we receive them and contact applicants for any pending documents or additional information required. All supporting documents must be provided by June 30, 2023 to move forward with the application process.
3. Office Meeting
Administrative staff will meet with every applicant in July of 2023. Those who meet the Habitat Archuleta criteria (which is described on the application) will continue to the next phase of the application process.
Applicants who do not yet meet criteria will still meet one-on-one with Habitat staff, to discuss how to improve their creditworthiness and potentially partner with Habitat in the future.
4. Family Visit
In August of 2023, those applicants who move forward will host our Family Selection Team (Cindy, Barbara, Aileen, and Kathy) in their own home for about an hour. This is an opportunity for the applicants to ask any lingering questions about the process, and “introduce” Habitat Archuleta to their family.
5. Family Selection
The applicants who meet with the Family Selection Team will be notified in October 2023 as to whether they are invited to partner to build with Habitat Archuleta the following year.
If you need assistance completing the application or have further questions on the process, please contact our administrative staff. You can email us at office@habitatarchuleta.org or call us at (970) 264-6960, or stop by our office at 703 San Juan St., Ste 201, upstairs above the downtown TBK Bank.
