Archuleta BOCC to Consider Health Department Committees at Special Meeting, Monday Feb. 6

The Archuleta Board of County Commissioners will hold a special meeting on Monday, February 6 at 8:30am, at the County Administration Office, to discuss the formation of a “Transitional Health Department Oversight Committee” made up of County employees, and a “Volunteer Transitional Advisory Committee” made up of community volunteers.

The agenda for the meeting does not indicate that public comments will be welcomed at the meeting.

The meeting will be broadcast via Zoom, if the internet happens to be working.

A. Consideration Of Creation Of Internal Transitional Health Department Oversight Committee

In preparation for the opening of Archuleta County’s Public Health Department on January 1, 2024, an oversight committee may be formed to oversee a separate committee of volunteer citizens to develop the structure, regulations and programs for the new health department. This agenda item it to approve the formation of the oversight committee to include the County Manager, County Attorney, Human Resources Director, Finance Director and County Paralegal.

B. Consideration Of Creation Of Volunteer Transitional Advisory Committee For County Public Health Department

In preparation for the opening of Archuleta County’s Public Health Department on January 1, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners requested citizens to apply to be on a committee to develop the structure, regulations and programs for the new health department. A total of 16 applications were received. This agenda item it to approve the formation of the committee, to decide how many citizens they’d like on the committee and to choose which of the 16 applicants they would like to interview to be on the committee. In addition to the volunteer citizens selected, the County Paralegal will sit on the committee as a liaison to the oversight committee.
