Town Welcomes Comments on 2023 Budget

The Pagosa Springs Town Council continues to meet to discuss and finalize the annual budget for 2023 that will take effect on January 1. Residents are encouraged to attend upcoming public hearing in December to provide comments on the proposed budget for next year.

Minor changes to the budget were discussed at the November 17 meeting at Town Hall, including additional funds for street maintenance, hiring a Special Projects Manager in the Community Development Department, and carrying over some projects from 2022 into 2023 that did not get completed as hoped.

The next public hearing will be held on Tuesday, December 6, at 5:00pm at Town Hall. This is the final public hearing and the last opportunity residents have to submit comments and feedback on the budget.

Although community members who live outside the town limits — the 85% of the population that lives in the unincorporated county — are not able to vote in Town elections or serve on the Town Council, the funding for the Town government comes mainly from local sales taxes, which are paid by everyone in the community, and many of the Town’s programs and activities serve the entire Archuleta County population.
