Pagosa Peak Open School (PPOS), in cooperation with the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts, is pleased to host anotherl Music Hall fundraiser — ‘The Golden Age of Hollywood’ — to be held this Saturday, November 12 at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts on Eagle Drive.
You may recall the roaring good time that was had by all at PPOS’ ‘prohibition-themed’ inaugural fundraiser, The Blues Box, featuring the Southwest’s finest blues and jazz musicians and a full dance floor.
This year we are ‘rolling out the red carpet’ for a classy 1920s-1950s event featuring a fresh live band, talented local vocalists, and an all new, Hollywood-themed ‘set design’.

This annual period-themed musical gala encompasses the creative investment of not only the professional musical performance and exuberant décor, but also the adorned crowd, making it Pagosa’s premier artistic event. A walk down the red carpet will lead attendees inside a sparkled-up venue filled with celebrity cameos and delectable hors d’oeuvres. A further jaunt down the Hollywood Walk of Fame (with the names of the event’s individual and company sponsors) will lead to the photo booths and bar, with a drink menu consisting of signature cocktails, champagne, and beer (for our true Western movie stars). A band featuring some of Pagosa’s finest musicians and vocalists will be collaborating to produce a Hollywood-themed musical performance — sure to keep the dance floor lively. A silent auction is also included.
This event is undoubtedly a community collaboration, supporting the arts in Pagosa Springs, and above all — educational excellence.
As many will remember, tickets sold out in advance for PPOS’s inaugural ‘Music Hall’ event in 2018, and we hit the County Fair CSU Extension Building maximum capacity at 285 people. The speak-easy vibe was successfully recreated in the Extension Building’s long main hall, filled with antique furniture generously donated by Feather Your Nest Antiques. An authentic drink menu of Sidecars and moonshine cocktails were mixed up using booze entirely donated by Pagosa Liquor, and wine donated by Silver Dollar Liquor. KWUF donated airtime and advertising leading up to the event, and the Quality Inn donated rooms for the out-of-town performers. Numerous other sponsors supported our silent auction, sweetened up our centerpieces, supplied our beer, fed our band, and allowed us to cover various miscellaneous expenses.
While PPOS receives nearly the same state funding per child as the other public schools in Archuleta County, numerous operational expenses are left for the school to cover, which could otherwise be applied to teacher salaries, transportation, etc. The school’s operational budget relies heavily on grants and fundraising events.
