Community Invited to Help Design New Public Playground

By Cady Allione

The walking and biking path along the wetlands area in front of Walmart is going to border a new playground.

Pagosa Peak Open School is partnering with the Colorado Health Foundation to build a playscape that will be open to the public during non-school hours. The new playground will be age and ability inclusive, highlighting the history and culture of Pagosa Springs.

Using an Equity Centered Community Design (ECCD) approach, the site will be redesigned to meet the unique needs of our community.  The process requires building a diverse team of individuals to collaborate and co-create the space.

The Playground for the People initiative is actively seeking people of all ages, ethnicities and abilities to join the team. In alignment with the ECCD protocol, all team members will be compensated for their participation.

More information will be shared, along with free food and live music, this Saturday, November 5, from noon to 2pm at Motel SOCO.
