Chimney Rock National Monument Closes for the Season on October 2

Chimney Rock National Monument’s visitor center and visitor services will close for the season after Sunday, October 2, 2022. All facilities will be closed including the visitor center, restrooms, and gift shop. There will be no trash service available at the site, and no vehicles will be allowed past the gate off of Colorado Route 151.

Limited parking is available prior to the gate, just beyond the roundabout. Visitors are reminded to not block the gate to ensure emergency access to the area.

Hiking into the site is allowed, as long as visitors stay on the roads and the trails. Biking is allowed on the roads within the park. Additionally, no dogs are allowed on the archaeological trails on the mesa at any time.

Chimney Rock National Monument is scheduled to re-open in mid-May 2023, as conditions allow. Information about the actual opening date will be posted on the San Juan National Forest website in the spring.
