Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Announces Winter Schedule

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (D&SNGRR)™, which offers distinctive year-round rail experiences and special events to passengers of all ages in the remote, scenic wilderness and high-mountain landscape of Colorado’s San Juan National Forest today announced the fares, classes of service and operating schedule for its Cascade Canyon winter train excursions from November through early January.

Additional dates of operation for January-early May 2023 will be announced at a later date.

Beginning Saturday, November 19, and continuing through Sunday, January 1, the D&SNGRR will operate one round trip train excursion on select days to Cascade Canyon.

A variety of classes of service will be available including Presidential, First Class, Deluxe and Standard.

The train will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad’s dates of operation November through early January are:

November 19-23, 25-27
December 3-4, 10-11, 16-24, 26-31
January 1

All excursions depart at 9:15am and return at 2:30pm. Standard Class fares are $84 per person for adults and $54 per person for children under the age of 12. Deluxe Class fares are $124 per person for adults and $93 per person for children under the age of 12. The First Class glass-enclosed Knight Sky coach fares are $159 for either adults or children under the age of 12. Presidential Class fares for the Cinco Animas Car are $179 for this 21+ car.

Established in 1881 as the Denver & Rio Grande Railway, and based in beautiful Durango, Colorado, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (D&SNGRR) has been transporting passengers, young and old alike, through the remote, scenic wilderness and high-mountain landscape of the San Juan National Forest for 141 years.
