Town Seeking Planning Commission Applications; Also, Artists and Food Vendors

The Town of Pagosa Springs is seeking applications from Town residents to fill an open Regular Member seat and an open Alternate Member seat on the Planning Commission. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, June 15.

The Planning Commission consists of five regular members and two alternate members, each serving a four-year term.

A typical Planning Commission meeting may cover a variety of projects, including:

  • Commercial developments and/or multi-family proposals for design review
  • New subdivisions
  • Land use permits
  • Proposed zoning changes
  • Amendments to the land use and development code

The Ideal Candidate
Ideal candidates will be focused on moving effectively through each meeting agenda, review development applications for compliance with the adopted codes, and committed to adaptive solutions to facilitate successful growth and development appropriate for our community as directed by the Town’s Comprehensive Plan and Land Use Development Code.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include serving as the Design Review Board and Board of Adjustment and, based on direction from the Town Council, conducting research on specific policies and providing recommendations.

The Planning Commission is also currently serving as the Historic Preservation Board, and those with downtown business district or historic structure redevelopment experience are strongly encouraged to consider this opportunity.

Eligibility
To be considered for appointment to this open alternate volunteer commission seat, a person must be a Town resident or reside in Archuleta County and own real property and a business within Town boundaries.

Food Vendors Wanted
The Town has extended its application deadline for interested food vendors to operate at the Bell Tower Park at the corner of Lewis and San Juan Streets. The Town is interested in activating this small park/parking lot by permitting up to 2 food truck or trailer operators between May 15 – October 15. The Town will be reinstalling planters and picnic tables in the parking area and is currently installing electric hook ups to accommodate up to 2 food vendors. Funding for Public Art Projects
The Town is also seeking proposals for art pieces for installation in public locations throughout the Town. This call is the second year celebrating the adoption of the Public Arts Plan for Pagosa Springs and we’re looking for creative expressions of art for a few key locations!
