Learn More About Fire Safety at ‘ComFest’ in Pagosa Town Park This Friday

May is National Wildfire Awareness Month. We are experiencing severe drought conditions across most of Colorado… and our neighbors in New Mexico are already overwhelmed with massive wildfires.

Are you prepared for wildfire?

This Friday, May 20, the Town of Pagosa Springs is hosting the first of four ‘ComFest’ concerts — free musical events in Town Park from 5:30 to 8:30pm — featuring two fine Pagosa bands, Brooks-i and The 13th Hour. Food trucks and a beer and wine garden will help keep us smiling. Proceeds from beer and wine sales will benefit the crucial services offered through Rise Above Violence to local folks in need.

To help spread community awareness about fire season, the Town has invited us to set up informational tables in Town Park during the concert, where people can learn more about fire safety and the ‘Urban Wildland Interface’.

Representatives from several local agencies and partnerships — including Wildfire Adapted Partnership, San Juan Conservation District and the San Juan Forest Health Partnership — will be there to answer your questions and let you know of local efforts and assistance programs to help you protect lives and property during an especially dry Colorado fire season.

Mark your calendar and dust off your dancing shoes… and please stop by our tables during the breaks to learn more about how you can help keep our Archuleta County neighborhoods — surrounded as we are by thousands of acres of flammable fuels — better adapted to warm temperatures.
