This coming Wednesday, February 9, the Pagosa Springs Area Chamber will host its annual meeting and community awards celebration.
The event will be held at the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association clubhouse, beginning at 3pm.
This year, the annual meeting will be a little different, with a community conversation on two critical community issues. Simultaneous breakout sessions on workforce development and housing will be conducted, with a panel of presenters available in each session.
In the housing session, the Town of Pagosa Springs, Archuleta County, Archuleta Housing Authority, HomesFund and Habitat for Humanity will give updates of what each entity is doing to promote attainable housing. There are many steps and programs that organizations are working on to help with the housing crisis. There will also be a question-and-answer period.
In the workforce development session, panelists include representatives from Pueblo Community College, Pagosa Springs High School, Archuleta School District, and the Chamber with a question-and-answer period as well.
These sessions are held to disseminate information and encourage ideas and possible next steps concerning these critical community issues.
Following the breakout sessions, we will convene for the community awards honoring Citizen, Volunteer, Small Business and Non-Profit of the Year winners and nominees.
Finalists for Small Business include Two Old Crows, Aspire Medical Services and First Southwest Bank, and for Non-Profit, Habitat for Humanity, Vets for Vets and the Pagosa Nordic Club. Come and celebrate all the nominees and winners.
A reception will be held with delicious hors d’oeuvres and beverages. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. Tickets for the event are $25 for Chamber members and $35 for nonmembers and include the community conversation, break-out sessions, reception and a drink ticket. Tickets can be purchased in advance at pagosachamber.com or at the door.
Everyone is invited to be a part of the conversation and solutions to important community issues.
