At their Central Committee meeting on Monday, the Archuleta County Democratic Party elected a new County Chair, Carl Young. Carl has resided in Pagosa Springs for two years and is a consultant in the IT industry. Earlier, he had a career in the newspaper business. He brings to the party years of senior program management experience and a robust commitment to Democratic Party ideals.
The party also honored outgoing Chair, Becky Herman, by electing her Chair Emeritus and a member of the County Executive Committee. Becky has served faithfully and enthusiastically as County Chair for over 11 years, which is the longest anyone has served in this position. Under her leadership, the party has improved its voter registration in the County to well over 2,200, acquired a record campaign “war chest,” and conducted a more aggressive and effective outreach to voters in the 2018 and 2020 elections. Although no longer Chair, she will remain deeply involved in party affairs.
