Vista Lake Park Community Learning & Leadership Circle Meets Today

Through the Vista Lake Park community garden and park project, residents of Vista + neighbors are forming a Community Learning and Leadership Circle (CLLC) to provide their insight and expertise as they lead the community garden and park project from the design phase, to building the garden and ultimately activating it with programming for themselves, their neighbors, and other individuals and families in Vista and the surrounding community.

Vista residents + neighbors will join together today, Thursday January 6, from 5:30 – 7pm to participate in an orientation for the CLLC. The idea for the formation of a CLLC was generated from the need to facilitate a community-led process which is at the heart of the FSFE Food Coalition’s practice.

Vista residents + neighbors gathered together, before the snow flew, on the site of the future community and park space at Vista Lake Park located behind the PLPOA administration building this past December.

Whether community members want to build a community garden or their own backyard garden or teach classes to support nutrition security for the Vista Lake Park community garden and park, it may not be clear where to start and how to get the right people at the table to move their idea forward.

Through the Vista Lake Park CLLC, the FSFE Food Coalition will provide dedicated community members across Vista + neighbors with inspiration and the knowledge and skill building opportunities to turn their ideas into action from the ground up.

Community members who want to focus on solutions to support health equity/nutrition security and contribute their ideas, skills and talents to the Vista Lake Park are encouraged to contact the FSFE Food Coalition.

The FSFE Food Coalition will provide support to the CLLC with facilitation and mentorship via community members through capacity building and content sharing. Through this approach participants will learn how to creatively identify and address issues and opportunities with the Vista Lake Park community garden and park planning processes.

In addition, the FSFE Food Coalition will support the CLLC to host a variety of programs and events to help foster community engagement with neighbors and community residents in support of the Vista Lake Park project.
