San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) is pleased to announce that CDPHE’s mobile unit administering monoclonal antibody treatments for COVID-19 is available in La Plata County beginning yesterday, November 29. CDPHE recently launched several mobile units that will travel across Colorado to increase access and supplement monoclonal antibody treatments already being provided by local health care facilities.
CDPHE’s mobile unit will provide monoclonal antibody treatment to individuals who are eligible. You might be eligible if you have tested positive for COVID-19, your symptoms started within the last 10 days, you aren’t hospitalized or on oxygen due to COVID-19, and you are at risk of getting very sick without treatment. Eligibility for treatment is for people 12 years of age or older.
Monoclonal antibody treatments have been shown to be effective at preventing hospitalizations among individuals who test positive for COVID-19 and are considered high risk for severe illness.
Eligible individuals can sign up for treatment at the mobile unit by self-scheduling on an online platform provided by CDPHE. No referral is required. As part of the appointment making process, patients will complete a screening form to determine eligibility for the therapy. At the time of the appointment, a health care provider from the mobile unit will review the screening form and must provide authorization for a patient to receive this therapy. According to CDPHE, the on-site review of the screening questions and authorization to receive treatment will occur in just minutes, in most cases.
More information about monoclonal antibody treatments, eligibility, and CDPHE’s mobile units is available on the CDPHE website. CDPHE is also providing the public with a flyer of instructions to sign up for an appointment at the mobile unit.
Questions about the mobile unit or monoclonal antibody treatments should be directed to CDPHE by calling 1-877-COVAXCO (1-877-268-2926).
CDPHE’s mobile unit will be located at the La Plata County Fairgrounds (2500 Main Ave, Durango), next to the COVID-19 community testing site, for the next two weeks. The hours of operation are as follows:
Each day from Monday, November 29 through Saturday, December 4 — 8:00am to 6:00pm
Each day from Monday, December 6 through Saturday, December 11 — 8:00am to 6:00pm
Monoclonal antibody treatments may also be available through existing health care providers in the region. The public is directed to first consult with their physician for a referral if seeking monoclonal antibody treatment from a local hospital.
“Helping increase access to monoclonal antibody treatments for high-risk individuals is a top priority for the State of Colorado and SJBPH. We hope that eligible individuals will take advantage of the mobile unit providing these treatments, which have been shown to be highly effective at preventing COVID-19 hospitalizations. SJBPH is grateful for the State’s leadership and collaboration for ongoing disease containment and support for our health care partners. Expanding access to effective treatments adds to the collaborative work between State and local public health with vaccine, testing, contact tracing, and increasing the utilization of other proven precautions,” said Liane Jollon, Executive Director of SJBPH.
