Pagosa Educators Invited to Apply for 2021-2022 FACE Grants by October 15

The Foundation for Archuleta County Education (FACE) 2021-2022 granting season is upon us and this year’s grant application information and application link is available here.

FACE is a non-profit organization that supports programs to enhance academic opportunities for students K–12 in Archuleta County. Groups or individuals who have innovative or established educational programs are encouraged to submit proposals to the FACE board of directors for consideration.

All grant applications must be completed by October 15 to be considered for this fall’s grant cycle. The grant evaluation committee will make their determination by November 1 and funds will be available as of that date. There are several specific requirements, so please read the application carefully and make sure that all supporting documents are included in your application.

The grants are available to educators working in public or private schools, or with homeschooling groups.

The FACE grant focuses on instructional and learning innovations. Innovation is not limited to technology. It incorporates creative, original or out-of-the-box methods or practices in the classroom. Our selection process will be more competitive this year given the smaller amount of money available, and we encourage you to put your best ideas forward for our consideration.

There are several specific requirements, so please read the application carefully and make sure that all supporting documents are included in your application.

Applications will be completed through an online form this year. When you submit, it will automatically notify the FACE Board you are applying and will send you a confirmation email. This year the narrative, budget explanation, and any other documents can be uploaded to the form directly, so you should not have to email them separately.

Grants will be awarded for up to $600 for an Individual grant and $1,200 for a collaborative grant (more than one individual). Note that higher amounts will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may not be awarded the full amount.

The foundation plans to award up to $5,000 total for these grants. All applications must be approved by your school principal or administrator to ensure that the focus of the application meets the school’s academic objectives for the year.

Applications should demonstrate that the proposal will:

  • Show improved and measurable academic achievement
  • Meet, exceed, and enrich the school’s academic program

Preference will be given to proposals that demonstrate usage in subsequent years.

Applicant agrees to acknowledge FACE support, and allow a photo in local Pagosa media outlets. FACE may send an email evaluation form to be completed and returned by April 2022. FACE requires that each grant recipient completes and returns the evaluation form in a timely manner. This report assists FACE in evaluating its grant-making efforts.

We look forward to helping our school district, charter school, home school, and private educational institutions have a great academic year. The quality of our students’ education is our first priority, and we trust that 2021-22 will be a year of high academic achievement for our students. Given the struggles that all educators and students have managed during COVID, we know that doing “extra” work to apply for a grant consumes your valuable time. We appreciate your willingness to engage with FACE during this process.
