Habitat for Humanity Seeking Local Volunteers for 2021 Affordable Home Project

By Lori Henricksen

The 2021 Habitat of Humanity home, currently under construction at 642 Florida St. in downtown Pagosa Springs, is well on its way to completion, and Habitat is reaching out to the Archuleta County community, seeking local volunteers to help move the project along.

A big ‘thank you’ to our visiting Care-A-Vanners (pictured above) and local volunteers who have been such a big help with all that we have accomplished and helping us stay on track. There have been a lot of unforeseen obstacles this year; but we are so thankful to be this far along. As you can see from the photos, we have made some great progress.

We need local volunteers!

Next Two Work Weeks:
Tuesday, August 24 through Saturday, August 28.
Tuesday, August 31 through Saturday, September 4.

We will be working mostly on framing and miscellaneous items. Windows, doors and porches should start after that.

If you can volunteer time on the build site, call or email Debbie and she’ll get you set up: 970-264-6960 (Mon-Fri, 11 – 3) or email office@HabitatArchuleta.org

The house is at 642 Florida St. in downtown Pagosa. Our workdays are generally Tuesday – Saturday 8:00am – 2:30pm. Be sure to sign in at the build site when you start your volunteer shift; bring a lunch and plenty of sunscreen!

Your health and safety are of the utmost importance to us. Habitat Archuleta will be following local COVID-19 recommendations for safe work practices, including physical distancing, face masks and increased hygiene practices. We encourage volunteers and employees to get vaccinated.

If you can’t make it to the site and would like to donate or become a business sponsor, please contact Lori at 970-264-6960.
