Vets, Active Duty Military Admitted Free to State Parks Today, Veterans Day

As a thank you to US military members, Colorado Parks and Wildlife offers veterans, active-duty military, and the National Guard free admission to any of Colorado’s 42 state parks today, Wednesday, November 11.

Veterans and military members, resident and nonresidents, can pick up a free Veterans Day Pass at any Colorado state park or CPW office by showing proof of military service.

“Our agency is grateful for the sacrifices our military made and make to secure our freedoms and outdoor heritage,” said U.S Marine Corps Veteran and Southwest Region Manager Cory Chick. “As a small token of appreciation, we invite our veterans and military members to visit a state park and spend some quality time in nature and enjoy the beautiful landscapes and natural wonders they protect.”

The free park pass provides a chance to experience Colorado’s state parks and the diverse wildlife and terrain they showcase. All other park fees remain in effect, including camping reservations, boat and off-highway vehicle registrations, and hunting and fishing licenses.

CPW also offers military benefits for outdoor activities to active duty military, veterans, and disabled veterans. Programs include free admission to state parks on Veterans Day, free admission to all state parks in August, year-round free entry to all state parks to residents with Colorado Disabled Veterans license plates and free small game and fishing combination licenses for qualified disabled veterans. CPW also offers a Columbine Pass which offers reduced park entrance fees to disabled Colorado residents.

CPW has partnered with the Colorado Tourism Office and the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics to share how to Care for Colorado and Leave No Trace. Follow seven key principles to recreate responsibly outdoors. For more information about Colorado’s 42 state parks, visit the CPW website.
