LETTER: From the Curtains Up Board, to Our Wonderful Community

The cast and crew at Curtains Up Pagosa was saddened to postpone our summer production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (the Broadway Version). We feel we did what was in our community’s best interest.

Curtains Up followed all public health and state mandated guidelines through the process of casting and rehearsing for our summer production, and we relaxed our guidelines as the state and SJBPH eased their guidelines. Not once during the rehearsal process did any cast or crew member ever express concern for their safety.

As soon as we learned of a single cast member that tested positive for Covid-19 only two days before we were to open our show to the public, we made the decision to postpone the show indefinitely in the best interest of the safety for all in our cast and community.

At our most recent board meeting, we began the process of working to reschedule the show, having to secure a venue, new dates, and developing new guidelines. CUP’s board of directors will also be working closely with SJBPH and their mitigation specialist to work out a more detailed protocol and guidelines for us to follow and enforce as we move forward with rehearsals and performances. As soon as we finalize these new guidelines for all cast, crew, and audience to follow, we will announce them to the public.

We are trying to be as transparent as possible as we continue to grow this organization to be a more present part of this community. We hope to be rescheduling the show for sometime this fall, and will keep the public informed as to when and where the show will be. Curtains Up thanks all of our supporters as we continue to grow and provide opportunity and entertainment for this community that we are here to serve.

As the saying goes, “The show must go on!”

Sincerely,
Antonia Bussoli, Maverick Webb, Nora and Ricardo Martinez, Richard Faubion, and Dale Scrivener
