Chimney Rock National Monument to Reopen Today, Friday, Sept. 18

Chimney Rock National Monument is reopening Friday, September 18 now that flood damage has been repaired. During the evening of September 14, severe thunderstorms impacted several areas of the Monument, sending mud, rocks, and debris across roadways, parking lots, and paths.

Road crews and engineers completed repairs while Monument staff shoveled mud and rocks out of parking lots and pathways.

Debris flows had forced the monument to close until cleanup could be completed.
