Watercraft Asked to Avoid Portions of Echo Reservoir During Wildfire

The Rio Blanco Fire near Pagosa Springs continues to burn, and firefighting aircraft are dipping buckets into Echo Canyon Reservoir State Wildlife Area.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is asking operators of both motorized vessels and hand-launched watercraft to avoid the area west of the peninsula while aircraft are working.

Visitors should give the aircraft plenty of space so crews can operate safely and continue supporting fire suppression efforts.

Thank you for your cooperation.
