LIBRARY NEWS: Your Generosity Made This Happen

As we finalize our signage that thanks our major donors, I am humbled and honored that so many people in our community stepped forward over the last ten years to make such generous gifts to our capital campaign. It’s clear that you believe in the power of the public library to do good work.

As we open the doors to our newly imagined library spaces, I pledge to you all that we will care for the building you have provided to us, and we will work hard to live up to the ideals of the public library: free and open access to information and shared spaces to keep you informed, keep you curious, and strengthen our community ties.

Please join us Saturday, September 12 from 9am to 3pm to tour the finished library. We have a lineup of activities to mark the occasion right plus activities to deliver loads of fun for all ages.

Come in the morning to witness a tribal blessing of our new library and stay for Storytime with Smokey the Bear. Make a commemorative bookmark, watch a juggling show, get your face painted and go home with a balloon animal. We’ll launch our new makerspace, try out the new teen room, and hear music from local bands.

The whole community is invited! Hope to see you there.

You Beat Our Summer Reading Challenge!
In just two months of our Summer Reading Program, Read Wild!, we’re proud to share that readers have surpassed our lofty goal of 250,000 minutes read! We’ve been giving milestone prizes like putting readers’ names on the Wall of Recognition in the library and offering “community coupon bundles” to local businesses. Readers are also earning raffle tickets to our grand prizes which include gift cards, and special experiences in the library – like private time in our makerspace – and around the area – like a fly-fishing trip with Piedra River Anglers.

Let’s Keep Going!
Read Wild! is too much fun to stop at 250,000 minutes read. So, let’s set a new reading goal for our community. Can we read 350,000 minutes, Pagosa?
We know you can do it!

Read Wild! continues through August 28th. Visit pagosalibrary.org/summer and start earning rewards for reading! Then join us for an end of summer celebration on August 28 from 1-3pm in the new Children’s Garden.

Group Meeting Room Available
While we’re waiting for the full library to be completed, we have carved out a meeting room space for small groups of 6-8 people to use by reservation. Give us a call at 970-264-2209 to reserve your spot today.

2026 Colorado Parks Passes for Checkout
Summer is slipping away! Have you visited a Colorado state park this year? Colorado state parks require a paid pass to enter, but you can borrow one from the library for a few days at no cost to you. Our New Books Collections
For a full list of new titles and to reserve your copy, go to www.pagosalibrary.org and choose Search the Catalog at the top of the screen. Don’t forget, if there is a waiting list for the book, it may be available now in eBook or eAudiobook on CloudLibrary or Libby.

During our transition period, most books are in storage, but the new books are available to browse, as well as items recently returned, and you can reserve items in the catalog and have them brought in from other libraries. All the children’s collection is available in our bright new shiny children’s room.
