By Monica Nigon
Good morning! I’d like to introduce myself as the new Coordinator for the San Juan Headwaters Forest Health Partnership. I am Monica Nigon, and I’m taking over Alex’s position as we transition to a more local leadership model. As a resident of Pagosa Springs, I am excited to be part of the this team as we continue the organization’s mission of improving the health of our forests and watersheds and increasing community resilience.
I am currently a remote graduate student at Western Colorado University where I am pursuing a Master of Environmental Management degree with a certificate in Ecosystem Restoration. I’m enthusiastic about Headwaters’ collaborative model including regional and cross boundary solutions to a better, healthier future.
As I am eager to serve as an effective Coordinator, I’d love to hear and learn from you all! Please don’t hesitate to reach out via this email (coordinator@sajuanheadwaters.org) to schedule a meeting with me virtually or in person. You can also text or call me at 719-581-0902.

Regularly scheduled Headwaters meetings and tours are normally held the third Friday of each month and begin at 9am. Based on scheduling, weather, and the availability of partners, the meeting date, time, and duration are subject to change, but we always try to stick to the schedule so meeting times are predictable. Always be on the lookout for email and calendar notifications.
