Free ‘Winter Weather Wonder’ Event Set For Friday, October 17

By Arleen Prochazka

Pagosa Weather forecasters Shawn and Arleen Prochazka will help the community prepare for winter by hosting a Winter Weather Wonder event on Friday, October 17 from 5:30 to 9:00pm at the Pagosa Lodge.

This annual gathering is a free event and open to the public.

We’ve already seen temperatures in the area dip below freezing and there’s been snow in the high country. Temperatures are steadily decreasing, and the polar air mass is building to the north. Soon, winter will be here.

We will provide our annual Winter Outlook, then special guest Dustin English, with the Upper San Juan Search and Rescue, will discuss avalanche and backcountry safety – important information for hikers, skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers.

Event Schedule
5:30pm – Appetizers catered by Pagosa Baking Company
6:00pm – Winter Outlook by Arleen & Shawn Prochazka of Pagosa Weather
6:45pm – Dessert catered by Showbox Bakery
7:00pm – Avalanche and Backcountry Safety by Dustin English of Upper San Juan Search & Rescue
