The Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College is thrilled to present ‘Falco & Book Play Garcia’, featuring Andy Falco and Travis Book of the Grammy Award–winning Infamous Stringdusters. This special performance, celebrating the music of Jerry Garcia, takes place on Saturday, October 18 at 7:30pm, with tickets priced at $30, $35, and $40.
When two members of the Grammy Award–winning bluegrass band The Infamous Stringdusters step off the big stage, something magical happens. Guitarist Andy Falco and bassist Travis Book share a deep passion for Jerry Garcia’s music, and together they honor his timeless legacy with stripped-down, soul-stirring performances.
“The project actually started backstage at Dusters shows,” Falco recalls. “Travis and I would warm up with some fun Jerry songs, and at some point, we just thought — it’d be fun to do it in public.” What began as casual jam sessions has grown into a unique duo project that brings Garcia’s music to life in fresh, intimate ways.
Drawing from Garcia’s solo work, his Grateful Dead catalog, and the traditional folk tunes he loved, Falco and Book explore the emotional core of the songs with just bass and guitar. “We typically hear these songs in larger ensembles,” says Book, “but the duo format puts a spotlight on the songwriting. It also makes the music more interactive with the audience.”
With expert musicianship and a shared respect for Garcia’s artistry, Andy Falco and Travis Book provide audiences with a joyful, stripped-down journey through Jerry’s music—celebrating the songs, stories, and lasting magic of one of America’s most beloved songwriters.
