Middle School Production of ‘Annie JR’ Performs Today and Tomorrow, Aug. 15 and 16

The sun comes out this weekend as “Annie JR.” takes the stage in the much-anticipated fifth annual summer junior musical.

The show opened on Thursday August 14 and performances continue on Friday, August 15 at 11am and 7pm and Saturday, August 16 at 2pm in the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium… promising toe-tapping songs, colorful characters, and a heartwarming story for the whole family.

Based on the beloved Broadway classic, “Annie JR.” follows the spunky orphan Annie as she sets out to find her parents and discovers the true meaning of family along the way. With unforgettable numbers like “Hard-Knock Life” and “Tomorrow,” audiences of all ages will be humming long after the curtain falls.

“This show is full of energy, music and big personalities,” said co-director Katrina Thomas. “Our students have poured their hearts into every rehearsal, and we can’t wait for the community to see their hard work pay off. These students are going to knock your socks off.”

The cast and crew features more than 50 middle-schoolers, with many seasoned stage veterans alongside first-time performers. The production also showcases a live pit orchestra featuring local volunteer musicians generously donating their time and talents.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, available at the door or online at our.show/psmsmusical. All proceeds go directly back into continuing the program for years to come.

“Ticket sales and donations are critical to the success of this program,” co-director Malinda Bur- nett pointed out. “In the past, this program was funded by large grant funding that is no longer available. We are extremely grateful to have the Archuleta School District as our main sponsor for this critical program, but it is truly a community effort.”

So, gather your friends, bring the family and get ready to cheer for Annie, Sandy the dog and all the unforgettable characters in this uplifting musical adventure. After all… you’re never fully dressed without a smile.
