Pagosa Unitarian Universalist(UU) Fellowship will gather for an annual Fellowship picnic this Sunday. We hold this at the home of one of our members, and we invite those interested to email us at info@pagosauu.org for directions. This potluck is a tradition within the Fellowship and creates a perfect Summer gathering in a relaxed setting. We are an inclusive faith community working towards beloved community centered in love.
Following is a list of upcoming services and gatherings. Typically, we hold worship services the first and third Sundays of each month beginning at 10:30am. The second and fourth Sunday are dedicated to growing our spirits and doing good – Going Deeper sharing circle and Action Sunday! have provided our community to deepen their own spiritual path while sharing in a safe, small-group setting. The summer season varies some from our regular gatherings as we enjoy the out-of-doors!
July 6 — Fellowship Picnic
We will hold our Fellowship Picnic off-site at the home of one of our members at 11:00am. There will be food, song and community – which means laughter, joy and connection. We will honor the seasonal shift into Summer. All are welcome!
July 13 — Going Deeper Sharing Circle
Our regularly scheduled Going Deeper Sharing Circle will take a break this week as many of the Fellowship members will attend a UU Durango Fellowship’s worship morning on the Pine River. We will carpool from the Fellowship about 9:00am. If interested, you can email us, or simply meet to carpool.
July 20 – Turning Inward to Expand our Welcome, Guest Speaker, Anna Royer
Sunday Service – 10:30am
Creating the beloved community is work that is both individual and collective, and both inward and outward facing. Let’s build on the public, celebratory work of Pride Month by turning inward to question our own assumptions, stereotypes, and implicit bias. We will hold the question, how do we do the internal work necessary to create welcoming spaces for people who hold transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive identities?
As a cisgender woman striving to be an ally, Anna will share personal stories of learning about diverse gender identities, ways we can educate ourselves and hold ourselves accountable to creating welcoming community, and draw connections between this work and our UU values.
Anna Royer speaks not as an expert, but as a fellow spiritual traveler committed to social justice and the inherent worth and dignity of every person. She has lived in SW Colorado for 20 years, supporting youth as a professional social worker and as a volunteer in school, non-profit, and UU congregational settings. This role includes the recurring privilege of listening to youth share their authentic selves, and she honors them as her primary teachers in learning about diverse gender identities. We welcome Anna back in our midst, as a previous friend and attendee of Pagosa UU.
July 27 – Action Sunday!
Join us for Action Sunday! at 10:30am… our practice of doing good will focus on last week’s service as we explore further work toward our Welcoming Congregation renewal.
Join us for any of our programs. We are located at Unit B-15 of the Greenbriar Plaza, 301 N. Pagosa Blvd. on the north side facing the Pagosa Peak. We offer Zoom streaming of our service, and a link to join online can be found at PagosaUU.org, where you will find our current newsletter with information about our programs. Pagosa UU Fellowship is a Welcoming Congregation, we believe that all of who you are is sacred, and all of who you are is welcome.
