Archuleta County Health Department ‘Jeopardy Game’ Today, June 25

Pagosa residents can learn about health insurance options in an engaging Jeopardy-style event hosted by Archuleta County Health Navigator Madeline Sutton at the Ruby Sisson Library today, Wednesday, June 25, from 5-6pm.

Back in 2004, contestant Ken Jennings won $2.52 million on Jeopardy! during a remarkable 74-game winning streak.

While that type of prize will not be featured at the Archuleta County Public Health Departments’ (ACPHD) Health Insurance Literacy (HIL) event today, the knowledge gained might be just as valuable.

Ms. Sutton will demystify health insurance terms, aiding residents in understanding open enrollment and securing affordable coverage. This interactive session will clarify terms like PCP, HMO, PPO, special enrollment period’, out of pocket’, and various copay levels.

Ms. Suttons’ HIL Jeopardy! Event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is not required. While prizes that could buy a house and perhaps a car or two will not be obtainable during this class, Ms. Sutton promises residents will walk away with a better understanding of how Connect for Health and open enrollment periods work.

In addition, she hopes to better enable individuals to properly pick the best plan for themselves and/or their families, saving the most money possible when it comes to health insurance.

Ms. Sutton: “”I’m excited for people to learn about health insurance and open enrollment in a way that’s fun. I think it will be well worth their time to get informed and be knowledgeable about things in the health insurance world…”
