The local volunteers shown above were among those feted by Pagosa’s Ruby Sisson Library staff on April 22 in honor of National Volunteer Week. Pictured with Barb Brattin, director, front center, they include Maple, a certified therapy dog who hosts a popular children’s reading session every month.

At the event the human volunteers enjoyed a taco lunch followed by a game of Library Jeopardy! with questions on books, authors and the history of our local library.

A total of 42 volunteers provide vital help to the library shelving books, helping with programs and cleaning CDs. They also are members of the Foundation and Friends, and have led the current building fundraising efforts.

“They make such a difference in our community and we are a great library because of our amazing volunteers,” Barb said.
