Mark your calendars for next Wednesdat, December 4, from 5:30 to 7pm at the Ross Aragon Community Center, where the Town of Pagosa Springs will be hosting a project update and 60 percent design presentation for the Yamaguchi South River Improvement Project.
The presentation will give the public the opportunity to see the additional design detail for the project. We’ll walk you through the plans to improve recreation access, enhance aquatic habitats and make our river area even more enjoyable.
We want your feedback. Community input is important to ensure this project is a success.
Can’t make the in-person event? A virtual open house on mypagosa. org will also be available from December 2 to December 9, where you can view the updated designs and drop your comments from home.
This project is a collaborative ef- fort with the Upper San Juan Watershed Enhancement Partnership, a group that spearheaded the effort to create the Integrated Water Management Plan for the Upper San Juan River basin. Its research has shown that climate change and changing water flows could have a big impact on aquatic life and recreation in the future. This project is designed to help protect our river and ensure it can be enjoyed for years to come.
Plans include a new river access point, wading and swimming holes, improved rustic trail, and channel features like sandbars and pools. Not only will these upgrades make the river more fun for floating, fishing and lounging, but they’ll also help the environment by creating diverse habitats for cold-water trout and other native fish.
So, whether you’re an avid fisherman, a pastime boater or just love the river, come join us at the project design presentation and ask questions or share your thoughts. See you there.
