Kentucky Derby Fundraiser at the Tennyson Event Center, Tomorrow, May 4

Don your best derby attire, including fabulous hats, and come on out for the Kentucky Derby Party tomorrow, Saturday, May 4, from 3pm to 6pm.

Proceeds from the Kentucky Derby Party benefit four local area nonprofits: Rise Above Violence, LASSO Large Animal Rescue, Upper San Juan Search and Rescue (USJSAR), and The Jim and Elizabeth Sullivan Foundation for the Arts.

The event will be held at the Tennyson Building Event Center, 197 Navajo Trail Drive, and includes live music with Tim Sullivan, live streaming of the derby races, a silent auction, appetizers and desserts. The cash bar will offer wine, beer and the Kentucky Derby signature drink: mint juleps.

Rise Above Violence’s goal is to support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Pagosa Springs. Rise promotes the belief that all people have the right to live free from violence by providing support and advocacy services for victims as well as education for youth and our community.

LASSO is dedicated to the safe keeping of abandoned, abused, neglected and unwanted horses in the state of Colorado. It provides shelter, rehabilitation and forever homes for unwanted horses. Horses awaiting adoption provide equine therapy to the public and challenged individuals of the community.

USJSAR is a volunteer organization that trains and organizes volunteers in search, rescue and other emergency services. USJSAR volunteers respond only when activated by the Archuleta County sheriff or his designee and operate where directed. USJSAR members volunteer to provide these services so that others may live.

The Jim and Elizabeth Sullivan Foundation for the Arts is dedicated to helping students who have the desire to study music, dance and visual art, but are lacking the financial means. Each dollar raised makes it possible for a student to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to express themselves in a positive and uplifting manner.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased online here.

You can also purchase tickets at Exit Realty’s office at 565 Village Drive, Suite E, or by calling Shelley Low at EXIT Realty at (970) 946-0930.
