‘Heavy Diamond Ring’ to Perform at ComFest This Friday

The Town of Pagosa Springs’ 2023 ComFest — the Town-sponsored music series taking place in Town Park — will continue from 5:30 to 8:30pm this coming Friday, July 21, in the athletic field.

Friday’s concert will feature Heavy Diamond Ring.

Sixteen years after starting popular indie-folk band Paper Bird, Sarah Anderson (vocals, trumpet) and Paul DeHaven (guitar, vocals) have embarked on their latest collaboration, Heavy Diamond Ring. Drawing from ‘70s FM folk rock and their distinct brand of open-hearted songwriting, HDR harnesses their strong and proven partnership toward refreshing new heights. Led by Anderson’s smooth-as-honey vocals and DeHavens’ rugged guitar chops, the band features Blake Stepan (bass, vocals), Mike Lang (keys, vocals) and Orion Tate (drums) expanding the band up to a five-piece that make their live show one to remember.

HDR’s all-American vintage sound draws comparisons to the powerful vocals and charisma of Grace Potter, storytelling lyrics similar to Shovels & Rope, and live rock performance of Fleetwood Mac.

The free outdoor concert series takes place June through August, with the beer and wine sales benefiting a different local nonprofit organization each month. Food trucks will be available for meal purchases.

The evening’s proceeds will benefit Healthy Archuleta.

The next ComFest event is set for August 18, when Kirk James Blues Band will play and proceeds will benefit Pagosa Youth Football.

On August 31, Dreem Machine and Ragwater will play, with proceeds benefiting Aspen House.
