Never underestimate the importance of networking: garnering new information, meeting a new contact, getting face to face with someone you have had on your “need to meet” list, sharing successes and concerns. This networking opportunity will be available for non-profit agencies on August 12 at the Community Resource Center’s Southwest Regional Session and Town Hall in Durango.
The event will take place from 8am until 4pm at the Durango Elks Lodge. The event brings non-profit agencies, funders, and philanthropic organizations together. Think of it as a mini-Philanthropy Day. Non-profit agencies do need to register for the event. You can do so at https://crcamerica.org/programs/regional_convenings/.
Tickets are only $25.
The day includes planned networking, facilitated discussions, lunch and a resource fair. If you are a non-profit agency, get in front of other agencies and funders. You can never network too much!
Another important educational opportunity will be the Human Resource Power Hour Series hosted by the Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado. The series begins on Tuesday, September 9 and is a virtual session that lasts only an hour for 6 weeks or until October 14. The class is every Tuesday from noon until 1pm. The cost is $10 per session or $50 for all six classes.
If you are a new business, if your business is growing, if you have even one employee, or if you are an HR manager in a larger company, it would behoove you to attend this important training. The labor laws have new requirements and there have been some changes, so are you familiar with all the changes? Topics that will be covered include employee onboarding, labor laws, conflict prevention and resolution, HR policies, and working with volunteers, subcontractors and more.
If you have a question about any of these topics, visit www. https://www.swcommunityfoundation.org/hr-power-hour/ to find out more about each of the sessions and sign up individually or for a group of classes.
And if you are an attendee, you will be entered into a drawing to receive $500 in free HR services.
As a business owner, please make sure that you are current with all HR laws and regulations. Invest just a little time and money in what cold potentially save you thousands of dollars should you be hit with a HR case.
Grillin’ & Distillin’ on Saturday, August 23 at the Archuleta County Fairgrounds is fast approaching. There is still time to enter as a master griller or backyard BBQer. The day will be filled with fun activities and GREAT Live Music. The Live Music for this event includes Tylor Brandon and SolOverLuna. Both groups are no stranger to the Pagosa music scene, and they will be paying up a storm. Another new component of the event is the distilling part. We will have multiple distillers from the state of Colorado serving up spirit and whiskey tastings. Just imagine a relaxed afternoon of great BBQ and whiskey! There will also be retail vendors.
If you would like to review the rules and guidelines for the event, visit the Chamber’s website.
Tickets for the event are available online at www.pagosachamber.com for either the BBQ or whiskey tasting or a combo ticket. Not a whiskey afficionado – no problem! Other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for sale by the glass. Don’t miss out on this inaugural event at the Archuleta County Fairgrounds beginning at noon and lasting until about 5 p.m. when the awards will be handed out. We’re looking forward to seeing you there either as a participant or a spectator.
Don’t forget that ColorFest tickets to the Friday evening Passport and the Saturday Bands & Brews event on September 19 and 20 respectively are also on sale at www.pagosachamber.com.
With fall comes some great Chamber events. Make sure you are a part of the fun!
