Pagosa Tourism Board Invites Community Opinions on Tourism Industry

By Jennie Green

‘Visit Pagosa Springs’ and the Pagosa Springs Area Tourism Board recently launched a Resident Sentiment Survey as part of its participation in the Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) Destination Blueprint program.

We are collecting input from our residents to help us formulate an action plan for tourism management in Archuleta County and Pagosa Springs. Your input is highly valued! By participating, you have the opportunity to enter to win a $100 gift card. The survey should take about 8 minutes to complete.

The Tourism Board recently applied for and was accepted into a competitive grant to participate in the CTO Destination Blueprint process. Program elements include a destination assessment, community visioning and action planning workshop, and 100 hours of project-based consulting. Program outcomes include increased alignment between local tourism stakeholders and completion of one or more priority tourism projects.

Participating destinations will receive an action plan that includes a series of recommendations and will also work with a tourism consultant to advance the recommended plan. Through this process, we will conduct a Resident Sentiment Survey, Tourism Stakeholder Survey, exploration of alternate funding models, and much more.

At this point, we have a core team assembled to help prepare for the community workshops on November 4 and 5.

The core team members are made up of various sectors, including the following:

Earlier in 2024, the Tourism Board received a CTO Technical Assistance Consulting program to outline the Value of Tourism in Pagosa.

The Tourism Board feels this is an opportunity to align tourism efforts to benefit the entire community.
