Business Training Opportunities Planned in Pagosa

Here are a couple of opportunities to upskill or improve your business knowledge base in August.

A commercial driver’s license (CDL) class will be offered August 6 and 7, and a series of Digital Marketing classes and one-on-one consultations will be offered August 12-14.

CDL class
First the CDL class. This upskill opportunity continues to return to Pagosa thanks to receiving grants to assist with tuition costs.

Obtaining a CDL license can open many lucrative doors for the permit holder, but a significant upfront cost is involved in the training process. If you have been considering obtaining your license, take advantage of one of these tuition-assistance opportunities offered this time by the Pagosa Springs Community Development Corporation.

The all-day class will be held either August 6 or 7 in the Visitor Center conference room. The cost of the class is $5,000 and this fee includes the one-day classroom fee, behind-the-wheel training fee and the driving skills test fee. To apply for tuition assistance, complete the form available at https://forms.gle/K4EKHT5u7PZEiSDS7.

Once you have chosen the day you can attend the class and complete the form, you will be contacted to discuss payment options and possible tuition assistance.

Upon completing the in-class training, you must take the written CDL test to obtain your commercial learner’s permit (CLP), which is valid for one year. You can then schedule the behind-the-wheel training and obtain a CDL permit once you have passed the driving skills test and submitted all required paperwork to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

For more information about the class or assistance, contact Emily Lashbrooke at emily@pagosaspringscdc.org or call (970) 264-3023.

Digital marketing class
“Elevating Your Digital Marketing Skills: Bigger Better Bolder” will be offered August 12, 13 and 14 in the Visitor Center conference room. Seating is limited. The same class will be offered each day in the morning and afternoon.

By attending one of the classes, you will also be able to schedule a 30-minute one-on-one consultation with one of the trainers. MGM Design Pagosa will be presenting the classes. MGM Design is a marketing agency focusing on website design and development, social media content development and management, Meta and SEO management, and all things digital.

How can this technology help you in your business? What is it? You might be surprised at how this technology could save you hours of work.

The classes are free for Chamber members and $25 for non-Chamber members, which also includes the consultation.

The morning classes will be held from 9:00 to 10:30am and the afternoon classes from 1:00 to 2:30pm each day.

By taking one or all of these classes, some of the fear of managing your social media marketing may dissipate. You may also find some time-saving tips, ways to improve your online presence, new marketing tips and certainly catch up on many of the new rules that have come out on the social media platforms.

For more information about the classes or consultations, contact the Chamber at (970) 264-2360.
