Community Band Invites Musicians to Play in Fourth of July Concert

The Pagosa Springs Instrumental Music Society (PSIMS) Community Band is preparing for the annual Fourth of July concert to be held in a big tent in Town Park from 2 to 3pm.

We will have two rehearsals for this concert, on June 23 and June 30, from 2 to 4pm in the high school band room. All ages and abilities are welcome to come play with us. Dust off that old clarinet, flute, saxophone, euphonium or tuba and get your music and play through potential pieces with our new team of conductors. This year, Suzanne Hill, who first started with us last year, returns with Pagosa Springs’ very own Anika Thomas and Leo Baughman, high school band director.

PSIMS is a 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to bring music into the lives of the people of Pagosa Springs. Our motto is “Music for Life!”

We believe that music enriches the lives of the audience as well as the performers. We support music education in the community. This year we have once again given two $1,000 scholarships to Pagosa Springs High School graduates continuing their music education at a higher level. We also hope to raise enough to purchase a set of chimes for the high school.

Our performances are always free and we love to provide them for you.
