To celebrate the release of their second album — titled ‘Shifting Shapes’ — local rock band Ragwater has invited the Pagosa Springs community to join them at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts for a ‘Rock-N-Roll Bash’ dance party. The new album features 10 original songs to uplift your spirits…
The community celebration takes place this Saturday, April 13. Doors will open at 7pm; music kicks off at 8pm. The dance floor will be open, and the Center will be hosting a cash bar.
Tickets are $10 and are available at the door.
The album, which will be available on CDs at the event, features original, high-energy, blues-tinged songs composed by the band’s lead vocalist Chris Haas and lead guitarist Chris Rapp — two Pagosa friends who have been writing songs and performing together for the past 20 years.
The band also includes Dione Patterson-Webb on vocals, Glen Goss on rhythm guitar and electric mandolin, Brooks Lindner on electric bass, Jason Dockter on drums, and Andy Spall on percussion.
The evening will also feature some special guests, sitting in.
Lead singer Chris Haas:
“We’re obviously celebrating the release of our new album, and just bringing people together for a good time. Celebrating rock ‘n roll, and community, and love…”
Lead guitarist Chris Rapp:
“Saturday is our massive release party, and we’re happy to have several friends sitting in with us… Chef Deggs… Robin Davis is also sitting in with us… and Bob Hemenger…”
Rhythm guitarist Glen Goss:
“It’s a Pagosa Springs community pagan gathering, where we all come out of the woodwork… put on our freak flag, and let it fly. And get weird with it. Enjoy each other’s vibes and transfer of energy. It’s magical…”
Vocalist Dione Patterson-Webb:
“It’s our release party, and it’s going to be fun; we’re going to make some awesome music; keep the people happy, and moving and shaking. We’re just there because we love the sound of rock ‘ roll.”
Percussionist Andy Spall:
“Ragwater is always a good time. Come on out and shake your booty and have some fun,…and enjoy these original tunes by some original dudes. All original, locally produced music. Live music is great, because you can get out and dance; you don’t have to worry about anything. You can just enjoy yourself… Dance like no one’s watching…”
Drummer Jason Dockter:
“Yeah, don’t forget your dancing shoes… and your ear plugs.”
I mentioned to Jason I’d heard the band is going to be handing out free ear plugs at the event.
“That’s perfect. Just perfect. I wouldn’t know because I can’t hear.”
Bassist Brooks Lindner:
“Ragwater f**king rocks. That’s all I have to say.”
The event will take place in the spacious front performing space at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts on Eagle Drive — the home of Thingamajig Theatre Company — which features one of the largest dance floors in Pagosa.
