Donors Begin Giving in November, to Support Favorite Charities

Colorado’s popular online giving movement, Colorado Gives Day, takes place on December 5.

But donors don’t have to wait until the big day to support their favorite local charities. Early giving is available throughout November, with more than $40,000 already raised at swcogives.org in support of more than 150 Southwest Colorado nonprofits.

In Pagosa Springs, there are 14 charities asking for support through Colorado Gives Day: Archuleta Seniors, Aspen House and Aspen Services, Aspire, Chimney Rock Interpretive Association, Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership, Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County, Healthy Archuleta, the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs, Rise Above Violence, the Ruby Sisson Library Foundation, Seeds of Learning, Sonlight Adventures, Thingamajig Theatre Company, and Vets 4 Vets.

Southwest Colorado Gives is a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado to inspire generosity in our five-county region and increase online giving for participating nonprofits. Swcogives.org is a secure, easy-to-use platform for donors to contribute online. Last year on Colorado Gives Day $53 million was donated statewide, with more than $650,000 raised for nonprofits in our corner of the state
.
“Local giving has gained some incredible momentum in recent years in Southwest Colorado,” said Briggen Wrinkle, executive director of the Community Foundation. “Since 2020, we’ve seen an additional $350,000 raised locally through this initiative, and we anticipate further growth this year. People seem to really like a platform that accepts donations to multiple charities at once, allowing them to support all their favorites within one checkout experience.”

The Community Foundation encourages charitable giving that keeps dollars local. Southwest Colorado Gives is an opportunity for donors in our region to support nonprofits across multiple sectors, including arts and culture, human services, animal protection, youth organizations, and many more.

Southwest Colorado Gives is sponsored locally by First Southwest Bank and the Ballantine Family Fund. For more information, visit www.swcogives.org or call (970) 375-5807.
