Region 9 Director Appointed to Economic Development Group

The Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado is pleased to announce that Executive Director Laura Lewis Marchino has been appointed to Colorado’s coalition to the 2023 Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness Policy Academy.

This committee is made up of a core team of economic development stakeholders in Colorado that are working with six other states to identify ways to align the work that states and regions do around economic development. Marchino replaces Trish Thibado, former Region 10 deputy director, on the committee.

The Economic Development Administration funded the Policy Academy to ensure more impactful, coordinated and collaborative implementation of state and regional strategies.

“In economic development we are only as strong as our weakest community, business, partnership or organization,” said Marchino. “I look forward to the collaboration this Policy Academy Coalition will create to promote alignment between the state, economic development organizations and our economic development stakeholders.”

Marchino will join the Colorado team at the Economic Development Council of Colorado Drive. Lead. Succeed. Conference October 18-20 in Grand Junction, and in Cleveland, Ohio, in November.
