After a hiatus of several years, the Health Fair will return to Archuleta County, but under new supervision and partnerships.
The Chamber of Commerce, Healthy Archuleta and the new Archuleta County Public Health Department will be spearheading the efforts for a renewed Health Fair and Expo.
The half-day event is to take place on October 21 from 7am to 1pm at the Pagosa Springs High School.
The morning will be dedicated to a combination of healthy efforts, namely blood draws for lab work, educational sessions and demonstrations, and knowledgeable vendors of products and services.
Low-cost blood draws will be available on a limited basis. However, it is also important that preventative care and communication with a health care provider is high on your list of how to take care of yourself and minimize health issues. Therefore, at the Expo, there will be health care providers and a number of vendors with products or services available to help you lead a healthier lifestyle.
If you are a vendor that has a service or product that you would like to show or demonstrate at the Health Fair and Expo, please contact Mary Jo Coulehan at the Chamber at (970) 264-2360 or email her at director@pagosachamber.com.
The event will begin early at 7:00am with low-cost labs and connections with local healthcare providers with the primary objective of reaching community members who experience barriers to primary preventive healthcare. It will continue through until 1:00pm with presentations, workshops, and activities all in support of physical, mental and nutritional health as well as food demos from local chefs, visits with onsite wellness vendors, a farmers market, and a Farm to Table luncheon.
The morning will culminate with a farm-to-table lunch with keynote speaker Dr. David Shaeffer with Pagosa Medical Group.
The organizers extend an invitation to all who are interested in joining this remarkable demonstration of community spirit and effort as a sponsor or as a volunteer at the event to visit the Healthy Archuleta website for more information or send an email to fsfearchuleta@gmail.com or call 401-206-4579.
