The Pagosa Nordic Club provides members and non-members with many great events throughout the ski season. Registration is required to participate in some but not all. Spectators are always welcome. Here’s a list of local nordic skiing events for the 2022-2023 Season.
Pagosa Nordic Learn to X-C Ski Clinics
These great introductory clinics for adults are held throughout the season. Skate ski and classic cross country ski basics will be shared by some of Pagosa Springs’ best skiers, free of charge. Donations and Pagosa Nordic Club membership are strongly encouraged to help offset expenses with conducting the clinics and trail grooming.
For adult never-evers, beginners and intermediates. Learn how to make these outdoor winter activities even more enjoyable. Bring your ski gear: skate skis or classic kick and glide.
Pre-registration is required with no walk-ups. Visit the Club website to register and sign the required waiver.Please print the WAIVER, fill it out and bring it with you to the clinic.

Saturday, February 4 – Checked in and ready to ski by 9:45 am with class starting at 10am, at Cloman Park.
Local ski shops provide discounted rentals for the clinics, just mention you are attending the clinic. Pagosa Mountain Sports, Pagosa Ski Rentals, Summit Sports, Alpen Haus Ski Center and Ski & Bow Rack rent classic skis with the last two also renting skate ski equipment. Be sure to ask for the discount.
You will need to bring skis, boots, poles and dress in warm layers. Please plan on arriving early and being geared up and checked in by 9:45am with class starting at 10am as late arrivals are disruptive to the classes. Parking is often packed. Leave time to park and walk to the staging area for check in.
Lessons are approximately 1 1/2 hours.
If you will not be able to make your reservation, please notify pagosanordic@gmail.com at least 48 hours in advance to allow for wait-list participants to attend in your place.

Southwest Nordic Race Series
Pagosa Nordic Club is participating in the Southwest Nordic Race Series – Four events in the San Juan Mountain region to crown the King and Queen of Nordic Skiing in the Southwest! The races are in Pagosa Springs, Chama, Telluride and Durango.
Three of the four featured races are scored for each racer. Score is based on finishing position (1st place = 1 point, 2nd place = 2 points, etc.). Top three finishes are averaged, and the lowest average score wins.
Pagosa Nordic Club – Season Opener
Saturday, January 7
Bib Pick Up / Walk-Up Registration at 8:30am (Day-of registration will be +$5 per person.)
20K begins at 9am. 5K begins at 10:15 am or when 20K is completed. KidK begins at 10:45 am or when 5K is completed.
Race Map – Cloman Park – Subject to change
$20 – Freestyle: Competitive 20K (Plus $5 if participating in the Southwest Series.)
$15 – Freestyle:Citizen 5K
$5 – Kid K
Awards for top finishers in each category.
PNC needs volunteers for the race! Please contact the PNC if you are interested.
Come on out and be a spectator! Cheer on racers from around the Southwest! Bring your cowbells and noise makers!

Pagosa Nordic BB Gun Biathlon
Saturday, January 21 at Yamaguchi Park
A great fun/serious race!
Pagosa Nordic Club will offer different level races with Red Ryder BB guns. No gun or shooting experience needed. Great fun for all ages!
– 16 km competitive starts at 10am, with bib pick-up and target practice 9:15am-9:45am
– 4 km citizens starts at 10:45am (or when 20K is completed), with bib pick-up and target practice 10am-10:30am
– KidK at 11:45am (or when 4K is completed), with bib pick-up and target practice 11am-11:30am
Please be geared up and ready for your start time. Racers will have an opportunity to test shoot at targets for one half hour before their race.
The event is a freestyle ski event in which participants can either classic or skate ski. You may sign up for the citizens 4K course or the competitive 16K course. The Kid’s race length will be determined based on the kids that enter. They love this race!
The race fee is $5 for Pagosa Nordic Club members and $15 for non-members.
Prizes for the top finishers and participant drawing giveaways immediately following the race. Prizes will be given for the best costumes. Start planning your outfit now!

Moonlight Skiing
A free event under the rising moon. Bring a headlamp or flashlight for back-up but be ready to turn the lights out and enjoy this fun and unique experience!
Members and non-members welcome! These events will not be officially organized by the PNC, but come out and introduce yourself to others and start skiing!
